The Sacred Cow Project - 2004

The children worked alongside Celia Smith to produce this wonderful wire cow sculpture. They made the body out of newspaper, which was attached to a metal frame, and then wrapped wire around it. They then wrapped different coloured wire around it in particular positions to give the appearance of a Holstein cow. After school, members of staff set the cow alight to remove the newspaper and positioned it in it's own paddock.

VE VJ Day - 2005

The children and staff comemorated VE VJ day by dressing up in period costume and learning popular wartime songs. We had 1940s style lessons including clothing repairal for novices and aircraft recognition for beginners. We celebrated with a special lunch and held a concert for the villagers of Batcombe and Upton Noble.

The Glass Window Project - 2006/7

The children of Ash Class worked alongside Max Jaquard to produce two themed windows for the school changing rooms. They each made a Roman style figure out of clay and arranged them on a pre-rolled clay slab. Max then took the slabs to his workshop, where he made a rubber negative and a plaster mould. He then poured coloured molten glass over the top. The windows will be ready to put in place in the spring.
